Upon joining the team last year, I was astounded by the amount of learning and development activity at Vizeum.
The thirst for knowledge was prevalent but we faced a challenge. We needed to focus our investment in individuals to bring a positive impact on the business and their careers.
After experiencing the ambition around the agency, I wanted to create a community where the collective can share and experience learning in innovative ways. We also needed a platform to champion our opportunities and importantly encourage and inspire our teams.
Working with our MD we started by ‘wrapping up’ and clarifying our Learning and Development offering. After a few iterations, ‘The Knowledge Tree’ was born. With its own team, brand and style of communication we were able to start turning the fantastic energy for learning, into something more than a classroom ‘training course’.
Since the launch of The Knowledge Tree we have been able to run three ‘spotlight’ weeks, namely ‘Insight Week’, ‘Learning Week’ and ‘Creativity Week’. During these weeks, we have devised workshops on storytelling, mindfulness and held ideas labs; to name a few. The agency is always so busy, that focusing the learning over short bursts during a week, creates a fantastic buzz around the office and allows knowledge sharing to come away from the desks and meeting rooms. The aim is to meet, share, learn, engage, be innovative and have fun.
We also launched the autumn and spring bursary – a chance for individuals to submit a request for a course or do something different, to develop them as individuals but also support them further in their roles. Then there is ‘Breakfast with the Board’ and the monthly newsletters… the list goes on – and this is on top of our core skills training, which will always be the back bone (or trunk if you will!) of The Knowledge Tree.
The Knowledge Tree embodies the spirit of our agency and is another reason why Vizeum is fabulously different, championing innovative ways for us to connect and making it a truly exciting place to work.
